Sun on the Number Line
A Class 1–2 number-line game for Indian kids. The Sun mascot hops along a number line. Your child picks a target (say, 47) and tells the Sun how many big jumps of 10 and how many small jumps of 1 to make. The Sun hops accordingly and lands somewhere. If the math adds up to the target — that's an Achievement. If your child used the canonical 4 tens + 7 ones split — that's a Place-Value Star, the highest honour.
How to play
- Pick a target (0–100).
- Set the number of jumps of 10 and jumps of 1.
- Press Start. Watch the Sun hop. Cheer when it lands.
- Earn the gold Place-Value Star when your decomposition matches the digits (e.g., 47 = 4 tens + 7 ones).
Built for the kid who's ready to move beyond "counting one by one" — where every "ten" really is a bundle of ten.
Three modes
- Reach the Number — plan tens and ones to land on the target. Start here.
- Add — the Sun starts at the first number. Hop forward by 10s and 1s, press Landed!, and the sum appears under the Sun's feet. The answer is never shown — it emerges.
- Take Away — the evening Sun faces left and hops back. The line ends at 0 — nothing left to hop!
What kids learn
This single game touches several Class 1 and Class 2 CBSE objectives at once:
Place value (digit meaning)
The visible difference between a jump of 10 (long arc) and a jump of 1 (small hop) is the felt sense of tens are worth ten ones. Pages of worksheet boxes can't deliver this. The Sun's body shows it.
Decomposition
Reading 47 and instantly thinking "4 tens and 7 ones" is the bedrock for two-digit addition, subtraction, and money. The Place-Value Star quietly rewards the canonical split without locking out exploration — your child can also discover that 30 + 17 = 47 and 0 + 47 = 47.
Skip counting by 10
Three jumps of 10 = 30. Felt, seen, heard (the audio chime emphasises tens). This is the precursor to multiplication tables of 10.
Number-line sense
Forward counting along a linear track. Spatial-magnitude intuition for measurement, money, time, and beyond.

What's inside
- The Sun mascot — friendly companion that hops along the line. Same Sun across the MathGuru numbers section, so kids recognise an old friend.
- Scrolling number line — the Sun visibly lands on each integer, with discrete pauses so each hop is a felt event.
- Mini-map (0 → 100) — a thin strip at the top showing the full journey so the kid sees how far 47 is from 0 at a glance.
- Live tens / ones counter — pills that count up as each hop lands, with a little bump animation.
- Place-Value Star — earned only for the canonical decomposition. Other valid decompositions still count as wins, with a gentle hint pointing to the canonical one.
- +/- stepper buttons on every input so small fingers don't need a keyboard.
- Audio chimes — different sounds for tens-jumps vs ones-jumps, plus a special arpeggio for the Place-Value Star.
- Works in the browser — nothing to install.
