Comparing Numbers

Two numbers, one question: which is greater, which is less, or are they the same? Forty-three short levels take you from two piles of fruit to four-digit numerals — and every one of them teaches the same habit: look at the highest place first.

No timers. No countdowns. No grades. A wrong answer gets another look.

How to play

Listen to the question, then touch the number it asks for. From Level 12 you also place the symbol — drag <, > or = into the gap.

When the doors appear, only the first pair is open. Touch the bigger digit. If they match, the pair locks and the next door opens. Doors that never open never mattered.

What’s inside

L1–6 Quantity — piles only, no numerals. Zero arrives as none.
L7–11 The Mouth — the symbol appears, always opening toward the bigger number.
L12 The Tile — you produce the symbol yourself.
L13–23 Lengths — place-value boxes; the longer number has a place the other does not. L19 is the hinge: 995 against 1002.
L24–36 The Doors — same length, highest place first, including the zero inside 405 and 450.
L37–42 Words — order, produce, and read it as language.
L43 The Final — every format returns, direct problems, no help.

Learning outcomes

Compare two quantities and say which is more, less, or the same.
Read and answer the less question, not only the more one.
Use <, > and = correctly, and write the same fact both ways.
Compare numbers of different lengths using place value, not digit-counting.
Compare same-length numbers by finding the highest place where they differ.
Order three or four numbers, and read a comparison aloud in words.
